Amanda Lindsey, MA, LPC Associate
Licensed Professional Counselor Associate
As your therapist, I will be there for you and listen to you and your concerns. When we go through challenges in life, we can feel alone. Sometimes it helps just to have someone with whom you can talk things through. With kindness and empathy, I will listen to your perspective and help you understand what you are feeling, why you are feeling that way, and how you can overcome any unwanted or unhelpful emotions. My practice is enhanced by the supervision of Gene Benedict, LPC-S, a marriage and family therapist with over 30 years of experience who specializes in resolving relationship issues from a systems perspective. As a follower of Jesus, I will seek to share with you the love of Christ and the enduring truths from His Word that offer us lasting hope.

My Goal as a Christian Counselor
My goal as your counselor is to listen well and to give you a space where you will feel heard. I will serve as your advocate, walking alongside you through thick and thin as you forge a path toward a better life in Christ, with God’s help. Together we will seek to identify what isn’t working well, and find another way that may be more useful, helpful, and productive.
What I Offer in Christian Counseling
I offer a safe, welcoming space where you can feel free to share and talk openly about your reasons for pursuing therapy. I will take time to get to know you, find out what is happening in your life, and identify ways in which I could support you in your journey. In subsequent sessions we will take a look at your family life and upbringing to determine whether there are any wounds from your past that continue to impact you today.
My Approach to Christian Counseling
My faith is everything to me. My relationship with Christ has taught me compassion, empathy, forgiveness, and understanding. One benefit of a Christian approach to counseling is that you know your counselor will understand things in ways that only another Christian can – that is the work of the Holy Spirit.
Qualifications & Experience
I hold a Master’s of Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Concentration in Management) with minors in Psychology, Criminal Justice, and Religion from University of the Incarnate Word. I am also a Certified Facilitator in the SYMBIS premarital counseling assessment created by Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott.
My Call to Christian Counseling
I have always wondered why people do what they do, what makes some people resilient and why others need a little more help getting there, and how I could help those who are struggling through their hard times. I’ve always been the one that friends call. I have a spirit of empathy for people and want to help others find hope.
More About Me/On a Personal Note
I love to read. My dream is to have a room in my home turned into a library, which goes perfectly with my other love: coffee, hot or iced! I am also a true crime junkie. I have a love of criminal justice and admire people who see the worst in humanity and still have a positive attitude and want to help others figure out why they do what they do and if it’s possible to catch the signs of danger early on. My favorite show of all time is Frasier (of course!), long before I even thought of becoming a counselor.

Women’s Issues
Women change so much and so drastically during their lifetimes – from little girl to young woman, to adult woman, to sometimes wife and sometimes mom, to career woman, to menopause and life after 50 – it can be a road full of changes that we’re not ready for. Having a therapist who can be there for you and offer support through all of these phases and events is essential to making sure you have the foundation you need and a place where you can be heard during these transitions.
Coaching
Some people just need help figuring out where to go next in their life plan, or what steps to take. Sometimes there are too many people offering advice, or too many options, and you are just not sure which direction to go. A coach is your personal cheerleader, who only cares about what you care about! Coaching is a great way to figure out what’s best FOR YOU!
Depression
Did you know that some people are genetically more prone to depression than others? Low or slow resilience, living in the past, listening to harmful words – all of these can lead you down a path that’s not where you belong. Having someone to be there beside you and help you see the hope and abundance God has in store for you is so vital to conquering depression. Your symptoms may come and go, but with a therapist who is there for you, it’s possible to tackle depression together.
Grief and Loss
Grief and loss are something we all have to face, and sometimes there is a long-lasting impact. While these things are normal, they can become overwhelming to the point that they affect our daily lives even after a time. Having someone beside you on your grief journey can help you heal and move forward. We never forget the ones we love, but life can still be full of hope afterwards.
Aging and Geriatric Issues
People are living longer than ever and with all this extra time comes extra challenges. Kids who have their own families, friends moving, life changes, figuring out what to do with all this extra time . . . Finding someone who can help you through these life changes is an important aspect of feeling fulfilled and ready to approach the next stage with confidence and clarity.
